BUILDING PERMITS Building permits to the value of £10,213 trere issued by the Oamaru Borough Council during' last year as compared with £29,025 in- 1930. Five new residences, valued at £3422 were built during the past year, as against 23 in 1930, valued at £17,140. Five new buildings at a cost ®{ £2925 were erected with two in 1930, Valued at £3407. MUNICIPAL ABATTOIRS During the month of December there were slaughtered at the Municipal Abattoirs 155 cattle, 927 sheep, 587 lambs, and two calves. municipal baths The attendances at the Municipal Baths have been especially good this season, although owing to the much larger sale of season tickets, the monthly receipts are not proportionately greater. Mr Winsley was the youngest son of Mr Harry Winsley, of Waiareka, and for some time he was employed by the Oamaru Mail Company, later entering into partnership with his brother as contractors. He had been an active member of the Excelsior Football Club, the Mounted Rifles Band, and Oamaru Boating Club. He is survived by a widow and young family. PAUL’S SCOUTS A meeting of the committee of the St, Paul’s No. 1 Troop of Boy Scouts will be held shortly to make arrangements to take the Scouts and Cubs into camp for a week at Waianakurua. This yearly event in the lives of the boys is greatly looked forward to, and it is understood that tins year the committeemen and wives will also join in the camp, so that the lads will be well looked after. MEADOWBANK CLUB’S JUBILEE Arrangements for the commemoration of the jubilee of the Meadowbank Bowling and Lawn Tennis Clubs were advanced another stage last night, when a special meeting of the combined clubs was held. Mr J. Robertson occupied the chair, and a good deal of preliminary business was transacted in connection with the celebrations. It is intended to make January 30 carnival day at the lawn tennis courts and the bowling green, when it is expected that numerous visitors will be entertained followed by a social function in the evening. With the co-operation of sister clubs it is anticipated that this will be the outstanding event of the year in connection with sporting bodies.
