JEWELS STOLEN
COTTON WOOL SUBSTITUTED “A FLAWLESS CRIME.” LONDON, December 27. Described as a flawless crime, a registered packet of emeralds and diamonds, valued at £BOOO, vanished under the efea of Post Office detectives in the course of transit from Hatton Garden to Regent street. The theft was not discovered until the/packet was delivered, when it was found to contain cotton wool instead of jewels. It is believed that an international gang, one of whom was disguised as a postman, was responsible.
