Dscussions between representatives of Austria, France, and Germany with the idea of adjusting the Customs Union differences to enable France financially to assist Austria have broken down. It is a momentous issue. Austria is on the verge of bankruptcy, and only France is able to help. Austria offers a qualified undertaking of abandonment of the proposal, but France demands complete renunciation on political grounds.
