BRADMAN ANNOYED
CRITICISM RESENTED CONTRACT NOT YET SIGNED. SYDNEY, September 3. (Received Sept. 3, at 8 p.m.) Bradman announces definitely that he has not yet signed a contract with the Accrington Club.- He resents the criticism from overseas, saying it will be quite time to make comment when he accepts the offer. In the meantime he has not accepted any offer from anybody. Arthur Mailey, writing in the Sun, describes Bradman as a great draw card. He is quite sure that Bradman will not leave Australia without the leave of the Board of Control. At the same time cricketers of Bradman’s type must be given sufficient encouragement to remain here. . , • STILL ELIGIBLE FOR TESTS. LONDON, September 3. (Received Sept. 3, at 11 p.m.) Mr Crawshaw, chairman of the Accrington Cricket Club Committee, says; “ Bradman intimated in the overtures in connection with his engagement that it would be limited, to 20 weeks. He would, therefore, be absent for about half the year, and this would not prevent him from representing Australia. His intimation that he would go to Australia at the end of the season should be conclusive proof that he does not intend to qualify for Lancashire.”
