MORE EFFICIENCY IN BUSINESS
Aii announcement appeared recently stating that an efficiency movement was being organised by a number of young business men in the city. At a recent meeting it was decided that the society should be called the Fern Business Efficiency Society (Dunedin) Incorporated. The following executive was appointed;— President, Mr R. S. M'Kenzie; vice-presi-dent, Mr Neil M'Rae; committee —Messrs N. Thomson, H. P. Lawry, B. C. M'Phereon. A. R. Harris, J. W. Webb, G. Lane, G. M. Lloyd; and organising secretary, Mr L. D. Woolf. The first meeting of the society will be held in the Early Settlers’ Hall tonight at 8 o’clock, and all those interested in personal efficiency in business are invited to attend. < The president will briefly outline the aims and objects of the society. Mr W. Calder M'Kay, of Christchurch, will deliver an address dealing with the opportunities which surround us, entitled “Acres of Diamonds.” Following this. Pastor W. D. More (“ Big Brother Bill ”) will read one of Mr Fern’s lectures. The society has been inspired, by the efforts of the well-known English business organiser and psychologist, Mr William G. Fern, F.E.S.A., who has done much to raise the standard of efficiency in Great Britain and other parts of the British Empire.
Meetings will be held each month, and lectures by well-known successful business men will be delivered. Debates will also take place from time to time. Among the aims of the society is to offer the incentive and guidance towards individual achievement, prosperity, and - , better citizenship, which in turn must reflect upon the national prosperity of the Dominion. Already initial steps are being taken for the formation of kindred societies in northern centres.
