GOOD TEMPLARY

The usual meeting of the All Nations Lodge, No. 13, was held on August 20. C. Bro. R. E. Cromarty presided. The officers for the new quarter were duly installed by the L.D., Sis. M'Cormack, assisted by Sis. Cromarty. The new officers are: C.T., Bro. Cromarty; V.T., Sis. Facer; sec., Sis.. Telfer; asst, sec.,Bro. Paris; F. see. Sis. Campbell; treas., Bro. Storm; ch., Sis. Mrs Matheson; mar., Sis. Larkins; D.M., Bro. Smith; gd., Bro. M'Cormack; eentl., Sis. Magnus; pianist. Sis. K. Matheson; P.C.T., Bro. Campbell. Each officer suitably responded. Reports were received of the juvenile work and a meeting of the Grand Lodge Reception Committee. A further sum is required for the Reception Fund, and a committee was set up to discuss ways of raising this amount. The secretary was instructed to write inviting the members of the Rescue and Star of Freedom Lodges to the next meeting.. The programme consisted of the singing of Irish songs led by Sis. K. Matheson. C.T. Sis, Jean Telfer presided over the usual meeting of the Beacon Juvenile Temple, No. 27, o n August 22. There was a good attendance of members, and the officers for the ensuing quarter were installed by Supt. Bro. Cromarty, assisted by Assist. Supt. Sis, Telfer and Bro. Storm. After the installation each officer suitably responded. The supenntendant was accorded three hearty cheers,, for his work in temple, and the other helpers were also thanked in the same way. The members then took part in competitions, such as quoits. Small prizes were awarded to the winners. The Silver Star Juvenile Temple, No. 9, met on Wednesday. A.S.J.W. Sis. 1 Rayner was in charge, and Sis. P. Rackley presided over a good attendance of members. D.S.J.W. Bro. Hilton was present, and installed Sis. P. Rackley as C.T. Two candidates were initiated. Bro. Hilton gave an address on temperance. Parlour games were played and the meeting closed at 8 p.m. The Hope of Dunedin Lodge No. 15, 1.0.G.T., held its weekly meeting in the Good Templar Hall, Harrop street. C.T. Bro. Braithwaite presided over a good attendance of members. Visitors were present from All Nations, Rescue, Star of Freedom, and Hope of Caversham Lodges. D.C.T. Bro. Dickinson was also present. Sis. M. South reported on an evening at which 15s had been collected towards lodge funds._ A motion of sympathy was passed with Mr Gain on the death of his wife. Greetings were received from Bro. Campbell (All Nations Lodge). The item for the evening was « Temperance Night.” Sis. Anthony gave a number of illustrations showing how the Good Templar Lodge was built up. D. Bro. Dickinson, with members of the G.L.R.C., visited officially, and gave a brief outline as to how the Grand Lodge was to be entertained nest Easter. The weekly session of the Conquest Temple No. 35 was held in the Green Island school gymnasium on Wednesday, Chief Templar (Bro. D. Reid) presiding over a good attendance of members. The sisters entertained the brothers. The following contributed to the programme:— Alva Wilde (recitation). Lula Gardiuer and Dorothy Wilde (duet), Mary Gordon (solo), Lily Barnes (recitation), Jean Wilde (recitation), Ruby Evans (recitation), Mary and Kathie Rhodes (instrumental duo), Winnie Ryan (recitation), Elaine Watt (recitation), L. Gardiner and D. Wilde (duet). The Star of Victory Temple, No, 31, met on Monday, August 17, 1931, in the Kaikorai Presbyterian Sunday School Hall with the superintendent (Sis. Mrs Flett) in charge. C.T. Bro. W. Mundell presided over a fair attendance of members. Visitors were welcomed from the Rescue and Hope of Dunedin Lodges, Bro, lies, superintendent of the Radiant Morn Temple, Morningtdn, gave a short address, and Sis. Mrs Gain gave a temperance reading. Games were indulged in, and Bro. Dickinson also spoke to the children. The Hone of Caversham Lodge, No, 128, 1.0.G.T., held its weekly meeting in the Caversham Scout Hall on Thursday last, C.T. Sis. Mrs Donaldson presiding over a good attendance of members and visitors from the Rescue Lodge. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Sis. Gain (Hope of Dunedin Lodge) in her recent bereavement. Sis. Leishman reported On the Everhopeful Temple, and greetings were' conveyed by Sis. Pauli (Rescue Lodge). Overseas _ greetings were also received. The following contributed towards the harmony of the evening:—Bro. Hilton (song), Sis. Leishman (song). Sis! Pauli (recitation), Sis. Donaldson (song), Bro. Cochrane (story), Sis. Mrs Pauli (recitation). The weekly meeting of the Radiant Morn Juvenile Temple, No. 21, was held on August 22 in the Mornington Methodist Sunday School Hall, Bro. L. Hornall, chief templar, presiding, the superintendent being in charge. One capdidate was initiated and welcomed into the temple. Bro. Williams conveyed the fraternal greetings of the Silver Star and foreign temples, and Bro. L. lies conveyed greetings from the Rescue Lodge No. 105. Bro. Sim Richards introduced a ball game, which was enjoyed by all. Several members gave riddles, and the following members added further to the harmony of the evening:—Sis. N. Burgess (pianoforte solo) and Bro. Rae (solo).
