ORGAN RECITAL
MAORI HILL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. A very large audience was present in the Maori Hill Presbyterian Church on Saturday evening to hear Mr Chaxles Martin, Mus.Bac., give his final organ recital before his departure for London. Throughout the evening Mr Martin delighted his audience by his artistic rendering of a well-chosen programme and by Ris sympathetic accompaniments of the items presented by those who supported him. Mr Martin’s solos were the overture, “II Guerany” (Gomez), “Nocturne in E flat” (Chopin), “Variations de Concert " (Bouvet), “At Evening” (Buck), and the symphonic poem, “ Finlandia ” (Sibelius). Along with Mr Martin there appeared Signor Giovanni Stella, Master Lex M'Donald, and Mr Maitland M'Cutcheon. Signor Stella’s line tenor voice was hearc. to great advantage in “ Ave Maria ” (Luzzi) and “Elegie” (Massenet). Master Lex M'Donald delighted his hearers by his. rendering of “ Waft Her, Angels ” (Handel) and “Just for To-day” (Scaver). Mr Maitland M'Cutcheon played with great sympathy and breadth of tone the violin solos “Ave Maria” (BachGounod) and “Aria in G minor" (Tenagha). In thanking the performers at the close 0/ the recital, the Rev. A. C. W. Standage took the opportunity of thanking Mr Martin for his great services to the church and the community, rendered so willingly on all occasions, and expressed, the good wishes of all present for the successful termination of Mr Martin's studies in England. Mr Martin, in replying, thanked all who hmd supported him so enthusiastically during his stay in Maori Hill, and expressed the hope that he might be able to return at no distant date to his Dunedin friends,
