THE SERVICES OF THE R.S.A.

ro THE EDITOR. Sir—l would like to express my appreciation of the excellent work the Returned Soldiers’ Association has performed through the operation of the Appeal Board for disabled soldiers. The administrative bodies have tried to evade their responsibility of paying pensions to returned men whose wounds and other ailments and their natural consequences have seriously handicapped them in obtaining work. The Returned Soldiers’ Association, by obtaining evidence from soldiers all over New Zealand, has proved, in a large number of cases, that disabilities which the Pensions Board declared to be non-pensionablo have really been, due to war service, and by proving this before the Appeal Board the association has been successful in a great number of cases (my own included). There are a great number of men, who, although quite well now, will in future years suffer severely from the after effects of their war and so should receive pensions. I would therefore urge all returned soldiers to join up with the Returned Soldiers’ Association, whose work has proved it to be so efficient. By the strengthening of its membership the association becomes more representative, and therefore carries more weight with the administrative bodies with regard to needy reforms. In addition the association is enabled through increased funds to do still better work. —I am, etc., Successful Applicant. Dunedin, July 16.
