MOSGIEL DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL

The monthly meeting of the Mosgiel District High School Committee was held last night. Mr H. Miller presided. . The rector reported that the primary roll was 360, and the secondary roll 82. There was a good average attendance. The Works and Visiting Committees reported that all matters, at the school were proceeding satisfactorily. Several minor repairs were required, and also some gravel for a portion of the playground.—lnstructions were given to have these matters attended to. In connection with the heating of the school, the Education Board notified that it was willing to find half cost of two coke stoves if the committee found £lO towards the cost. The board would be willing to take these over if the committee decided later on to proceed'with the hot-water heating when Government assistance was available. —Messrs George W. Davies and Co. asked to be allowed to submit a scheme of heating.—After discussion it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the chairman, the secretary, and the rector. The Department of Health forwarded a circular letter setting forth the altered conditions under which the dental clinics ■would operate in future.—-It was resolved to invite a conference of delegates from the schools interested in the clinic. The Education Board notified its intention to reduce the staff by one. —The rector and the secretary explained what had been done in this regard, and it was hoped that the reduction proposed might be cancelled. Mr A. E. Ansell, M.P., had lent valuable assistance.
