BURGLARY IN CHRISTCHURCH
THEATRE SAFE ROBBED NEARLY £SOO SECURED (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, 13. The Regent Theatre in Cathedral square was broken into last evening, the safe blown open, and Saturday’s takings, nearly £SOO, stolen. The thieves climbed to the circle cloakroom by means of the fire escape, and then broke the window. From there they went to the manager’s room, and a drill and explosives were used on the safe in a skilful manner. The caretakers, though in the building at the time, heard no noise. Two years ago the safe of the Liberty Theatre was opened and £4OO taken;
