HANGMAN IN TEARS
EXECUTION OF TWO WOMEN DRAGGED TO THE GALLOWS. BUDAPEST, June 18. Bursting ihtd tears, the hangman of SZoiinok Prison was compelled to drag to the gallows the unconscious forme of Julia. Czartas and Marie Czabo. Czabo bore a child while in prison, and fainted at the sight of the gallows. She did not hear the filial sentence. Czartas, protesting her innocence, madly fighting the warders, and shrieking for mercy, was carried to the gallows, where a screen hid the body of Czabo, who had already been hanged. . Czartas fainted, the, spectators were horror-stricken, and the hangipan, weeping bitterly, adjusted tlm noose, and while Czartas was still unconscious, completed the execution.
The two women were convicted of wholesale poisoning.
