UNEMPLOYMENT MENACE
BRITISH INSURANCE FUND GREATER BORROWING POWERS (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, June 18. (Received June 19, at 10 p.m.) In the House of Commons to-day Mr Ramsay MacDonald announced that a resolution would be introduced on Monday to increase the borrowing powers of th<* Unemployment Insurance Fund from £90.000,000 to £115,000,000. A meeting of the Liberal Party decided to support this demand. DOWNWARD TENDENCY OF WAGES. SPENDING POWER NO LESS. LQNDON, June 18. In the House of Commons Mr Ramsay MacDonald said the Government had given attention to every phase of the trade depression,- including last year’s downward tendency of wages. Generally speaking, the latter had fallen less than the cost of living, therefore there was no reduction in spending power.
