RELIEF SCHEME ABUSED WAGES TO BE REFUNDED. (Pkb Uniter Press Association.l CHRISTCHURCH, June 18. Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., three men, described as relief workers, were charged with obtaining money by fraud from the Unemployment Board, and were ordered to refund the wages which they had drawn from the board, in default seven to 14 days’ imprisonment in the worst case. One man was the owner of a large glasshouse, growing tomatoes, and his wife had £IOOO of unemcurabered property. The Magistrate said no court would put up with these frauds while the country was in such a perilous state. In future the penalties would be heavier.
