ODDFELLOWSHIP. During the pael fortnight'the following I. lodges met in their respective lodge rooms: Leith Lodge, No. 4 (Albany Street Hall). —N.G. Bro. G. Tyne presided over a fair attendance of members and visitors. The Visiting Committee reported it was pleasing to state that only one member was on the sick list. The lodge decided again to enter for the forthcoming competitions (initiatory), and to commence rehearsals. A communication was received from grand sire of Australia containing proclamation and instructions regarding the institution of a universal annual memorial service in respect to deceased members of the Order. The lodge decided to hold a service at the next meeting, in conjunction with which the 'ceremony of unveiling a photograph of the late Bro. ,J. S. MTeak will take place. During . the recess members became very enthusiastic in competing in an indoOr bowling competition.under the tuition of Bro. J. Skinner. The credit ot bowling the beet “ length " was awarded to Bros. J. Skinner, L. D. Ritchie, and R. Kirkham. N.G. Bro. G. Tyrie applied for leave of absence owing to hie possible absence from town. A vote of welcome to the visitors was responded to by Bros. J. Skinner and Z. Dunn (Pioneer), Bro. Harborne (Linden). The Social Committee supplied supper, which concluded a pleasant lodge evening. Maori Hill. No, 86 (Coronation Hall). —N.G. Bro. MTntyre presided oyer a good attendance of members and visitors. Several sick claims were passed for payment, favourable comment being made on the reduction in the number of these claims. A special committee was formed to arrange for a memorial service to be held at the next meeting under the conditions set out in the proclamation from the grand sire. During the recess a very pleasant time was spibnt by members in playing indoor’ bowls. This game, as anticipated, has become very popular,, and on the lodge resuming a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Bro. H. Jones, of Leith Lodge, for bringing the bowls up to the meeting. A vote of welcome to the visitors was responded toby D.D.G.M. Bro. A. Beveridge, Bro. J. Duncan, P.G. (Pioneer), and Bro. R. S. Kirkham, P.D.D.G.M. (Leith).- „ . Unity Lodge, No. 16 (Kensington Hall). —N.G. Bro. J. MTvor presided oyer a fair attendance of members and visitors. Various members were reported .on the sick list, and claims were passed in each respect. Much regret was expressed at the continued illness of Bro. D. Swinton, who was still in hospital. The committee reported this this member was very bright, and expressed his appreciation for the many visits from the various members. The lodge\ decided enter for the initiatory competitions. It was decided to hold a memorial service at the next meeting to conform with the proclamation from the grand sire. . During the recess the half-yearly competition tor the Gillispe Cup was competed for by card teams selected by the N.G. and V .G. respectively. A very keen and close game resulted in a win for the N.G.’s team by one point. A vote of welcome to the visitors was responded to by Bro. A. Beveridge and Bro. A. Phillips. N.G. (St. Kilda). Pioneer Lodge, No. 1 (Rattray Street Hall). —N.G. Bro. L. Smart presided oyer a good attendance of members and visitors. The Visiting Committee reported on several sick members and claims were passed for payment. Bro. J. Tyson, P.G., who was present, was congratulated on having been elected to the responsible position of Grand Lodge trustee vice late Bro. J. S. MTeak. Bro. Tyson suitably responded. The executive having arranged to conduct the annual memorial service, the ceremony was proceeded with and was very impressively and capably carried out. During recess a very pleasant hour was spent by members under the leadership of Bro. Edmondsdn at the piano, indulging in instrumental and vocal musical items, while a large number of members also participated in a bowling competition, which proved very entertaining both to the younger and older members. A vote of welcome to the visitors was responded to by D.D.G.M. Bro. A. Beveridge, Bro. L. D. Grig" (Indoor Bowling Committee). Bro. J. M Ivor, N.G. (Unity), Bro. H. Jones, P.G. (Leith), Bro. D. Harborne, V.G. (Lm•den), Bro. M. K. Glover. P.D.D.G.M. (Maori Hill). ~ . , St. Kilda Lodge, No. 87 (Forbury School Gymnasium). —N.G. Bro. A. Phillips presided over a good attendance of members and visitors Several members reported having visited Bro. D. Swinton, of Unity Lodge, who was ill in hospital. Hope was expressed that this member would soon be recovered. In response to proclamation received from grand sire to hold a memorial service it was decided to carry out a suitable ceremony at next meeting, and that Bro. W. F. Crooke be asked to take charge. One candidate wag proposed for membership. A vote ot sympathy was passed to the relatives of the late Bro. Isbister, who lost his life in Greymouth as a result of a fatal fire. Members were reminded qf the memorial service being held by Leith Lodge when a framed photograph of the late Bro. J S MTeak. grand trustee, would also be unveiled. A vote of welcomei to visitors was responded to by D.D.G.M. Bro. A Beveridge, Bro. L. Smnrt, (Pioneer)* Bro D. Harbourne, V.G. (Linden). Bro. R Kirkham. P.D.D.G.M. (Leith). Bro. J. M'lvor, N.G. (Unity). Ruth Rebekali Lodge, No. 3 (Albany Street Hall).-N.G. Sister Squires presided over an excellent meeting of members and visitors. Correspondence included an invitation from Linden Lodge to attend a social evening, and also from PG.’s Association regarding a meeting to be held at Miriam Lodge. Two candidates were initiated into the lodge. One member was reported to be on the sick list. After . the business had been transacted the lodge was closed to allow the , syllabus item for the evening to be carried out. This was scheduled as “ Brothers’ Night.” Bro. G. D. Smart conveyed apologies for the absence of Bros. L. D. Ritchie, A. H. Valentine. R. S. Kirkham, and G. Carson, who were unable to attend, but extended their sincere gceetings and best wishes for an enjoyable evening. An enjoyable programme of gramophone record items, piano solos by Bro. Bingham, community songs, games, etc.., arranged by Bros. W. Townsend, A. Beveridge, J. Olsen, E. Dunn, and H. H. Johnson, was then carried out and proved very entertaining. Supper was also provided by the male members. A vote of welcome to visitors was responded to by .lister J. Scott (Rose_ of Ka Avar an, CroniAvell), and Bro. E. Wise (Linda).
