MARCH WEATHER SUMMARY

(From Our Own Correspondent.) OPHIR, April 1. The following is the report of the Ophir meteorological station for the month of March, 1931, standard time being observed: — Average reading of barometer at 9 a.m., 30.14 in; highest (March 8), 30.491 n; lowest (March 18), 29.66 in; extreme range, ,83in. Average shade temperature at 9 a.m., 53.8 deg; highest (March 91, 67.8 deg; lowest (March 28). 42.2 deg (average for February, 57.7 deg; March, 1930, 54.5 deg). Shade temperature extremes; Average maximum, 68.0 deg (February, 68.4 deg; March, 1930, 6S.3deg). Average minimum, 41.3 deg (February, 45.4 deg; March, 1930, 41.6 deg). The highest maximum was 78.2 deg on March 14; the lowest maximum, 28.6 deg on Alarch 20. The highest was 55-Odeg on March 23; the lowest, 17.0 deg on March 20 (the lowest reading in March, 1930, was 20.0 deg; in March, 1929, 23deg). Solar radiation: Average maximum, 102.2 deg (February, 103.1 deg; March, 1930, 102.7 deg). The highest was 122.6 deg on March 14; the lowest, 67.8 deg on March 21. The temperature exceeded 120 deg on one day; ranged from UOdeg to 119 deg on 11 days, and from lOOdeg to 109 deg on seven days. , ■ Average dry-bulb and wet-bulb; 9 am. —dry 53.8 deg, wet 49.4 deg; 3 p.m.—dry 65.3 deg, wet 55.8 deg. Mean relative humidity: 9 a.m., 70.8 per cent.; 3 p.m., 51.6 per cent, of saturation. Average clearness of sky: 7 a'.m., 44 per cent.; 9 a.m., 51 per cent.; 7 pm., 64 per cent.; 10 pm., 66 per cent The number of observations at 9 am. of clear sky” (cloud 0 to 2) was 11; of overcast” sky (cloud 8 to 10), 10. Dew recorded at 7 a.m. on 21 mornings. There was no snowfall on the Dunstan Range.
