EARTHQUAKE RELIEF. ' The Alexandra Borough Council has decided to give £lO to the Earthquake Relief Fund. The local fund now stands at £ll6 17s. BOWLING. The Alexandra Bowling team by defeating Bannockburn on Saturday last now holds the Central Otago Inter-club Shield for the season 1930-31. Although it has yet to play Roxburgh, the ultimate result cannot be affected. The scores on Saturday were Alexandra 90, Bannockburn 56. MINERS’ ASSOCIATION. In common with other places, there is a firm belief here that a mining revival in Alexandra is to be expected in the near future. A meeting was held recently, when a Miners’ Association was formed, and a number of localities were mentioned where gold could be found in payable quantities. Mr S. Cameron was appointed president of the association, and another fuller meeting will be held at a later date. CENTRAL OTAGO PRESBYTERY. The quarterly meeting of the Central Otago Presbytery was held in Alexandra on Tuesday, when there were present the Revs. C. M. Sullivan (moderator), A. R. Chisholm (Cromwell), A. Don (Ophir), A. H. Whieldon (Middlemarch), J. S. Young (Ranfurly), S. D. Baird (Waipiata), and Messrs Houston and Jackson (Arrowtown). It was decided to nominate the Rev. Adam Begg, of Timaru, as moderator of the General Assembly. The Rev. J. S. Murray was nominated a member of the Committee of Records, and the Rev. J. S. Young was appointed to the ‘tanding Committee for the General Assembly. It was decided to nominate the Rev. W. J. Robertson, of Waikiwi, as moderator for the synod of Otago and Southland. A report was received regarding a vestry for the Ophir Church, and it was decided to ask the synod for a grant of £SO to erect the building. The Rev. J. S. Murray was appointed moderator of the Anr .town Home Mission Station, and it was also agreed to forward an application to tire Missions Committee for a grant of £3O for Arrowtown. It was decided to request presbytery to agree to shift the Hindon Church to Luggate. Mention was made of the death of Mr R. Jones, of Cambrian, and it was decided to send a letter of sympathy to his relatives. The Rev. S. D. Baird, of Waipiata, was appointed clerk and treasurer of presbytery.
