A NATIONAL LOSS.
FIRE IN TROUNSON PARK. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND,' February 22. A series of fires broke out this morning in four places in Trounson Park, 25 miles north of Dargaville. The flames were still raging late to-night, despite the strenuous efforts of 100 men to stem the outbreaks, which are assisted by a strong wind, threatening great damage. The caretakers say that the circumstances suggest that the four fires were deliberately lighted. Trenches were dug to check the flames, but the flames leapt across the firebreaks. Trees are being cut down to arrest the flames, but the latest reports indicate that the fire is burning freely.
