ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA, UNDERGRADUATE’S ATTEMPT. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegrapn—Copyright.) LONDON, February 19. Mr Fairbairn left Hanworth for Australia at 8.30 this morning. He called at Lympne, and took off again, presumably for Paris. A previous message stated:—Fairbairn, a Cambridge undergraduate, is planning to start on a flight to Australia before the end of February, proably alone, in a light aeroplane of the Gipsy type. He will attempt to low’er the record. FLIGHT-LIEUTENANT ROSE. ARRIVAL AT BULAWAYO. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 19. (Received Feb. 20, at 5.5 p.m.) Flight-lieutenant Rose, who left Lympne last Wednesday in an attempt to set up a new record flight to Capetown, arrived at Bulawayo to-day. He expects to complete the flight in just over nine days at an average of 950 miles a day. CAPTAIN MATTHEWS. ARRIVAL AT BRISBANE. BRISBANE, February 20. (Received Feb. 20, at 11.30 p.m.) Captain Matthews arrived aboard the Marella from Darwin with portions of his aeroplane. He intends to continue by steamer to Calcutta, when he will fly to London.
