INDIA’S PROBLEMS
- FRANK CONVERSATIONS. VICEROY AND MR GANDHI. (United Press Association.) I (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) DELHI, February 18. (Received Feb. 21, at 1 a.m.) “ The issues are hanging in the clouds,” declared Mr Gandhi, when leaving the Viceroy’s house yesterday. There is no indication of any settlement of the Indian problem, but it is understood that considerable progress was made towards an arrangement. Lord Irwin is reported to have promised an authoritative answer to Mr Gandhi’s case after consultation with the Secretary of State (Captain Wedgwood Bonn). The nextmeeting between the Viceroy and Mr Gandhi will probably be held during the week-end.
