ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
HEAD-ON COLLISION. MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED. (Pkr United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, February 18. A motor cyclist named James Batchelor, of Newmarket, aged about 23, was killed as the result of a head-on collision with a service car at Papatoctoe this afternoon. CAR FALLS SIXTY FEET. (Per United Press Association.) HAMILTON, February 18. Fatal injuries were received by James O’Connor, farmer, aged 35, of Waharoa, when the ear he was driving skidded in loose metal and left the road, passing over Mamaka Hills. The vehicle fell GO feet, O’Connor suffering a broken thigh and arm. After treatment he,was admitted to Waikato Hospital yesterday, succumbing to his injuries last evening. The deceased was accompanied by his three brothers, who escaped injury. MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED. A single man, named Norman Dixon, 29 years of age, residing at 41 Fitzroy street, South Dunedin, was admitted to the Hospital at 8.30 a.m. yesterday, suffering from a fracture of the right leg. The injury was received when he fell from his motor cycle which skidded on loose metal at St. Leonards.
