FREE FIGHT IN BERLIN

• NAZIS AND COMMUNISTS. CHAIR LEGS AS WEAPONS. (United Press Association.) J (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) BERLIN, January 25. A free fight ended a mass meeting of several thousand at the east end, which had been arranged for an open discussion by the Nazis and Communists. The latter’s spokesman opened the debate, and at the conclusion of his speech a large bodyguard escorted him to his comrades. Dr Goebels, the Nazi leader, on attempting to reply, was immediately shouted down, which was a breach 1 of the ‘promise by the Prussian Communists’ deputy who arranged the meeting. Pandemonium broke out, the assailants fighting with fists, beer mugs, and chair legs. The police, who were hidden behind curtains and in adjoining rooms, dashed in and plied their truncheons. Over 100 persons were injured, including many women. Numerous arrests were made.
