ROWING ASSOCIATION. ARRANGEMENTS FOR REGATTAS. A meeting of the Otago Rowing Association was held last evening in the Borough Council Chambers, Port Chalmers. The president (Mr W. J. Wilson) was chairman. The special committee appointed to re-; vise the prize money allotted for the races to be held in connection with the association’s annual regatta, fixed for March 6, recommended that a reduction of 10s be made in the first prize for the Junior Double Sculls, and 10s in the second prize for the Junior Fours.—Mr W Leftwitch objected to a reduction being made in the prize money for the Junior Double Sculls, and he moved that last year’s programme, as regards prize money, be adhered to.—Mr C. R. Cafnn moved as an amendment that the programme as submitted by the committee be agreed to.—The amendment was carried, and it was decided to submit the prize money to the various clubs. There was some discussion regarding the Senior Four race being rowed in best-and-best boats.—Mr W. Glengarry gave notice of motion that the minute now ; appearing in the association’s book be rescinded. Hhe maintained that the race should be rowed in'clinker boats. The secretary of the Otago Regatta Committee reported that the following had been appointed to control the rowing events at the regatta to be held on February 7:—Messrs W. Glengarry, W. Robinson, S. G. Styche, arid R. Thompson (judges); C. R. Caffin umpire and timekeeper); E. V. Fairbairn (starter). —The association opproved of the appointments _ , The secretary of the New Zealand Amaetur Rowing Association advised that the preparation of the certificates to be presented to the New Zealand eight had been advanced a further stage. The Ravensbourne Regatta Committee advised that maiden and youths’ four races would be held in connection with the annual regatta to be held on February 21.—The races were approved. The Vauxhall Power Boat and Sailing Club advised that £2O had been allotted for rowing events in connection with the annual regatta to be held at Vauxhall on March 12. The association was asked to submit a number of events for approval. —lt was decided that the following events be included in the programme:—Youths Double Sculls (£2 and £1), Maiden Double Sculls (£2 and £1), Maiden Fours (£3 and £l). Youths’ Fours (£3 and £1), Junior Fours (£4 and £2). The following officials were appointed to control the rowing events at the Ravensbourne and Vauxhall regattas:— Messrs E. V. Fairbairn (starter), C. K. Caffin (umpire), W. Robinson, W. Lysaght, W. Glengarry, and E. A. Newman (judges). .
