THE PRINCE’S TOUR

AMERICANS INTERESTED. PROBABLE EFFECT ON TRADE. (United Press Association.)' (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) NEW YORK, January 24. (Received Jan. 25, at 8 p.m.) The financial editor of the New York Times states: “ American bankers and business leaders who have interests in South America will follow closely the progress of the tour of the Prince of Wales to ascertain what effect it may have on American trade with Latin America. It is considered inevitable that a comparison will be made with goodwill with the tour of President Hoover in the autumn of 1928. In some quarters here it is believed that greater benefits may result for British manufactures, commerce, and finance from the Prince of Wales’s tour than was derived by American business from President Hoover’s visit inasmuch as greater preparations have been made by the British.” The editor then quotes the views of a group of noted business men, who point out the success of British diplomacy in recent South American revolutions and that economic experts will accompany the Prince, whose visit will appeal to the peoples generally, as well as to the governing heads of the nations concerned.
