The annual meeting of the New Zealand Croquet Council was concluded tonight, when the president (Archdeacon Creede Meredith) occupied the chair. There was a large attendance of delegates. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Vice-president, Mrs A. RhodesWilliams; hon, secretary and treasurer, Mr C. A. E. Ferguson; Dominion handicapper and referee, Mr A. G. F, Ross; district handicappers—Mrs Bartlett (South Auckland), Mrs Keesing (Auckland), Mrs Gambrill (Manawatij.), Captain F. L. Hartnell (Taranaki), Mr A. 6. F. Ross (Canterbury), Mrs H. W, Hall (South Canterbury), Mrs R. H. Gilbert (West Coast), Mrs Waters (Nelson), Mr A. H. W. Palmerston North was selected as the centre for the North Island tournament. It wag decided to hold the South Island tournament in Timaru. Hastings was favoured as the centre for the English gold medals. Mr A. G. F. Ross offered for open competition the cup presented by Dr Whitaker, and at present held by him. It was allocated to an open “ M. 8.” grade singles competition (three and a-half bisques and over) at the Dominion tournament.
