. BRAWL ON A PUNT. MAN SEVERELY WOUNDED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, December 1. Charles Evans, aged 28, was shot in the abdomen by the captain of the Hnwkesbury River vehicle punt during a brawl on the vessel. Evans is on the point of death. He and five companions refused to pay the fees on the punt, and after wordy warfare a fierce fight commenced, the men attacking a deck ban I who was flung to the deck, kicked, ami punched. The captain, .seeing the deck hand being unmercifully battered, fired two shots over the men’s heads. As this had no effect a third shot was fired, and Evans fell.
