SECRETARY OF LABOUR. MR WILLIAM DOAK. APPOINTED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, November 30. President Hoover has selected Mr William Doak, of Virginia, the legislative agent for the Brotherhood of Railwaymen, to fill the post of Secretary of Labour in view of the coming resignation of Senator-elect J. J. Davis. President Hoover issued a stinging rebuke to Mr W. Green, the president of the American Federation of Labour, who requested the selection of a member of that body. The president stated that the ultimatum impelled him to maintain the principle of equal opportunity - and select Mr Doak, who is not a member.
