STRIKE BY JOCKEYS. START OF RACE DELAYED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, November 30. (Received Nov. 30 at 5.5 p.m.) An inquiry will be held into the jockeys’ strike to-morrow. The field in the Carlton Mile was originally 22, to which the jockeye objected, as it was. too many for a small course like Moorefield, which has been the scene of many accidents owing to over-crowding. Scratchings had reduced the number to 19, and the committee declined to listen to the jockeys’ appeal for. a further reduction, as a result of which there was a further delay of 20 minutes. Finally the owner of Ralston obligingly scratched his horse, thus reducing the field to 18, complying with the jockeys' demands, an’d the race was run.

INQUIRY INTO JOCKEYS' STRIKE.

(United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, December i. (Received Dec. 1, at 9 pan.) Arising out of the jockeys’ strike at Moorefield on Saturday, an inquiry was held at the Australian Jockey Club offices to-day, when, after receiving an expression of regret from the jockeys concerned, ’the stipendiary stewards decided to take no action. It is understood that a petition is being prepared by the jockeys asking that there should be some limitation on fields on suburban courses.
