EX-DUNEDIN RESIDENTS.

CLUB FORMED IN PALMERSTON . NORTH. As a result of - a meeting of Dunedinitea resident m Palmerston- North, which was he!d last week, a club, to be known as M?T ne «3 d: w ? °f lal C i ub , was formed, i- S - .v *ll ton, who presided over the meeting, said that the people of Dunedin were the warmest-hearted people of the Dominion a ? d it was his desire to see tnat spirit of comradeship revived in Palmerston North through those Dunedinites who resided in that town. He remembered the days when flour was dispensed by the cupful owing to bad conditions and when the people had worked together as one brotherhood. It was his desire formally maugurate: a body, with the underlying thought of holding social gatherings. With the progress of time the number would swell. Regular “Dunedin nights” could be held and eloquent Scottish speakers be asked to address the members. After some discussion it was* decided to form a club to be called the Dunedin bocial Club, the right being reserved to extend the privileges if such a course was thought fit at some later date. It was felt that certarn rffies regarding eligibility should be laid down. One suggestion was three years’ residence in Dunedin, and a lady member suggested that only those educated in the city should be admitted. Messrs D, E. Dredge, Wilkinson. J. Walker, R, N, M'Culloch, and J. B. Cooper were elected a committee, with Mesdamea Walker, Dredge, and Miss Hemingway a ladies’ committee. The question of office-bearers and a constitution for the club were deferred until a meeting to be held next Friday evening.
