JUBILEE OF IE AROHA.
OPENING OF CELEBRATIONS. (Pes United Press Association.! mi IE AROHA, December 1. The celebration of the jubilee of Te. Aroha was commenced yesterday with a united thanksgiving service, attended by 1000 people. Addresses were given by the local clergy, and the singing was led by a choir of 75 voices drawn from all Protestant denominations. Several hundred pioneers, including many who were at Te Aroha at the opening of the goldfields, have travelled from distant places to take part in the celebrations, which will extend over a. week. An air pageant is being held to-day, 10 aeroplanes taking part. A feature of the week’s programme will be the entertainment of old identities, for whom extensive provision has been made.
