The man who was shot on the doorstep of a house in Burnley has been identified as Frank Ellis, whose crime record is a long one, with convictions in several States and in New Zealand. COMMUNISTS SENTENCED. THE MAGISTRATE INSULTED. SYDNEY, November 28. (Received Nov. 29, at 0.30 aim.) A number of Communists were convicted of taking part in an illegal procession in Sydney on November 7, arid had fines imposed varying from 20s to 60s each. They decided to go to gaol, and some will join the hunger strikers there. Insults were hurled at the magistrate. A motor lorry, which travelled rapidly through , the city to-day bore several •Communists with a red flag, but the police made no a'ttempt'to stop it. BASIC WAGE INQUIRY.
