GAELIC SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting of the Gaelic Society was held last evening in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Stuart street. The hall was comfortably filled by members. Chief Roderick Mackenzie, supported by Chieftains R. M‘Lean and A. M'Lachlan, controlled the meeting. In his opening remarks the chief spoke of the great success of the “tattie and herring” supper held recently to commemorate the jubilee of the society. Mrs A. MTvor gave the first item on the programme, a Gaelic song, “ Ailean mo gra,” and as an encore item responded with “ Suas leis a ghaelig.” Other contributors were:—Mr R. Scott Fou the Noo” and “The Message Boy”),, Misses Nora Steele, Peggy Steele, Neva Clement, and Agnes Stewart (national reel), Mrs R. M‘Rae (Gaelic song “ Tear na Gleann and “My Own Land”), Mr M. Johnson (“The Standard on the Braes o’ Mar ” and “ Gae Bring to Me a Pint o’ Wine”), Mrs Edna Pettet (step dance). Piper G. Yardley (a selection on the pipes), Mr A. M'Lennan (Gaelic songs “Anns a gleann s’ robh me og” and another,), Misses Neva Clement and Agnes Stewart (a fling), Mrs S. Matheson ("The Auld Scotch Sangs” and “The Lass of Killean ”), Mr Bennet (a variety of Scottish airs on the accordeon). Misses Nora and Peggy Steele (military dance). A short dance followed the musical programme, for which Mr A. M'Kenzie acted as M.C.
