Walking home at 7.30 last evening a woman residing at Oriental Bay had her bag snatched by a cyclist, whq rode up behind her and whipped the bag from her hand. There were not many people about at the time. The cyclist rode off quickly. In the bag was a sum of money and a ring. The toman was left holding the handle from which the bag had been torn. CHRISTCHURCH, October 1. The retail price of butter in Christchurch was reduced by Id a lb this morning. ASHBURTON, October 1. William Francis Tilson, aged 27, a mill owner, of Hinds, was fined £lO, in default 14 days’ imprisonment, for being intoxicated while in charge of a car.
