ROYAL SHOWS.
LONG-DISTANCE EXHIBITORS. GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE SUGGESTED.(Per United Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., May 21. At the annual meeting of the executive of the Ayrshire Cattle Breeders’ Association a letter was received from the Royal Agricultural Society stating that a movement was On foot to earmark part of the breed societies' donation for the purpose of subsidising long-distance exhibitors at Royal Shows and so reduce their freight charges. The chairman (Mr Weir) said that at all Royal Shows in Canada the Provincial Government paid the exhibitors’ freights. The shows were heavily subsidised by the Federal Provincial Governments. It was resolved to reply recommending that the Royal Society appeal to the Government for assistance in the direction indicated;
