RUNAWAY MOTOR CAR.
GIRL SERIOUSLY INJURED. CLAIM EOR DAMAGES. (Per United Press association.; _ WELLINGTON, May 8. t 1 ,‘V 11 Gibson (as guardian of i! ej ci ” 00^s » «iged 1/5) to-day claimed in the Supreme Count £IOO3, damages, from Cecil- Alfred Sadler, a. land salesman. While walking along Devon street last October, the girl was struck by a runaway car owned by the defendant, and knocked through a'fence and the locked door of a house, and suffered serious injuries. Tiic defence denied any negligence in respect to the parking of the car, and •counsel suggested that interference had taken place. Mr Parry, for the plaintiff, however, anticipating a defence that the car had been moved 25 minutes after being parked, said the defendant had just motored from Masterton, and the brakes would be warm and would not bold till they cooled. After evidence, damages totalling £2C3 Cs Cd were allowed.
