UNEMPLOYED RELIEF
THE VICTORIAN, PROPOSALS. BILL READ A SECOND TIME. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, May 8. (Received May S, at 10 pan.) The Unemployment Relief Bill was read a second time in the Assembly. The Bill provides for the imposition of the stamp tax on wages of one penny jti the £, per week on all incomes to £312 a. year and- for a super tax on a sliding scale on all incomes between -£312 and £SOOO a year. Thus persons receiving £SOO a year will pay £2 10s a year, £7OO £4 4s; £IOOO £7, £ISOO £ls, £2OOO £24, £3OOO £39, in addition to .ordinary income tax. The Bill will operate for 12 months. j THE ITALIAN WAY. UNEMPLOYED TRANSPORTED. • . ROME, May 7. , • (Received May 8, at U p.m.) • The civic authorities’ methods of dealing with unemployment are drastic, and all workers who are not in positions arc being transported elsewhere. Rome is encircled by an immigration barrier, and only those may enter who produce evidence that work i£ awaiting them*in the city. . , .
