AMERICAN PROHIBITION
RESULT OF NEWSPAPER POLL. MAJORITY FOR REPEAL. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) , NEW YORK, May 8. (Received May 8, at 5.5 p.m.) The newspaper Literary Digest; in a poll of 4,150,017 votes, ascertained the following figures:—l,24B,sßo.for enforcement, 1)231,849 for modification, 1,609,570 for repeal ,of the prohibition law. .North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Kansas, and Arkansas cast a majority for strict enforcement only, while New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island had a . majority for repeal.
