May 7, at 5.5 p.m.) year’s air race for the King’s Cup is to be confined to light 1 planes. The course will be one of 750 miles round Britain and tlje contest will'be held on one day instead of being spread over two days as in the past. The date arranged is July 5, and the start and the finish of the race will, be at, Hanworth Aerodrome. There is every prospect of n record entry and a number of wotneu pilots have intimated Jheir intention of piloting their own machines. Flight-lieutenant Atcherley, who flew the. supermarine S 6 to .victory ’in last year’s Schneider Trophy race, attaining a speed of .over 330 miles an hour and Flight-lieutenant Stainforth, who piloted' a high speed Gloster Napier at equally high speed, will fly together in the race, but as only light planes can be used they will have to be content this time with a speed of about 85 or 90 miles an hour. Using one of 'the Royal Air Force racing machines, they could get round in ,about two hours, .but as it is they will take more than eight hours.
