MEETING OF COUNCIL. (Pee United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 7. The Golf Council to-day discussed the Kirk-Windeyer Cup rules, based on a conference with the captains of the New South Wales and’ Victorian teams, but ■an important clause dealing with New Zealand's position with regard to the draw could not be decided, and a subcommittee was appointed to go further into the matter. The report on the courses for this year’s championships wan not ready, and nothing will be done till it is received. A- sum of £SO was voted towards the cost of trophies at the ladies’ championships.

Open Autumn Foursomes to b'S conducted _by the Ladies’ Golf Union in the Dominion. The entries number 74, which U stated to be esoep--tionally pleasing. Primarily the introduction of open autumn foursomes was due to the foresight of Mrs Guy Williams, of Masterton (president of the Ladies’ Golf Union), who is the donor of two ' handsome silver cups as trophies. Replicas, which are to be presented to the winners, have been presented by Miss E. Culling, of Auckland. The principle of the competition is to encourage' the team spirit. Results: — First Round. Misses E. Culling (Auckland) and D. Chrystall (Christchurch) beat Mesdames Thompson and Mammary (Bulls), 7 up and 5 to play. Mrs J. P. Junes and Miss N. Innee (Manawatu) beat Misses E. Smith and, S. Baldwin (Marton), 6 up and 5 to Play. Misses S. Watson (Manawatu) and E. Bell (Wellington) beat Mrs p. Borgb and Miss Peirce (Bulls), 8 up and 7 to play. There were many byes in the first' round.
