A CHARMING STORY
WIRELESS FOR THE BLIND. GIRL SACRIFICES PRESENTS. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, May 5. A charming story which has captured the imagination of the newspapers was recorded to-day. A Gloucester girl, betrothed to a wealthy young business man, had the choice ot rich furs or sparkling jewels as a present, and declined them all. Site said she would be happy if every blind man, woman, and child in Gloucestershire could be provided with wireless sets. The news was revealed when the young man walked into the Natioua; Institute for the Blind and asked tne cost of providing and maintaining these sets for ever. The staggered officials worked out the cost and told him in the neighbourhood of £IO,OOO. “ Very well, they can have it. It isn’t my gift, but a present from my future wife,” said the man as he handed over the cheque. He • refused to give his name.
