HARBOUR BOARD POLICY.
TO TIIE EDITOR. , Sib, —At its last meeting the Harbout Board reopened the discussion on the building of. the Ravensbourne wharf for the new Fertiliser Company, and it would be of interest to know why so much of this discussion took place in committee. One would think that where public' money is being spent the full details should he disclosed. In this particular case the public of Otago have been saddled with the cost of a very expensive dredge, and almost its only" work so far has been on a scheme which seems mainly for the benefit of the promoters of tut Fertiliser Compuny. In the meantime, why need so much money be spent on dredging a wharf and ramp when the company could land its materials at Port Chalmers and supply freight to the railways? This whole matter should be reviewed, and every importer and taxpayer should protest against this expenditure.—l am, etc., Publicity.
