Au ingenious fraud on charitable people was unmasked at Duton recently, when a man was sentenced to a month’s imprisonment for begging. Detective Wood said accused was singing and holding out his hat in his right hand with his left overcoat sleeve hanging empty. Accused said he had lost his arm, but witnessfound the arm concealed inside the man’s overcoat. Accused said: “ This is a stroke of bad luck, I was just doing all right.” In his possession was found 23s lOld in coppers and 30s in silver.
