WEST HARBOUR BOROUGH.

MEETING OF COUNCIL. The monthly meeting of the West Harbour Borough Council was held last evening, and was attended by the Mayor (Mr H. E. Moller), Crs T. H. Harridge, J. M. Kay. A., D. Asher, ,T. Robb, A. Smith, C. J. Hayward, 0. G. H. Wilson, T. F. Eodger, C. F. George, and W. Forgie. CORRESPONDENCE A letter was received from the Minister of Railways, in which he stated that the representations made by residents of Burkes and St. Leonards urging the retention of the two stopping places as near, as possible to the present stations, and also for the provision of a station between the present stations at St. Leonards and Sawyer’s Bay, would receive every consideration.—The letter was received. The town clerk of Port Chalmers, under instruction from the council, wrote conveying the appreciation of the Port Chalmers body on the improvement made by the West Harbour Council to the Dun-edin-Port Chalmers road.—The Mayor said it was very nice to receive such a letter from the Port Chalmers Council, hut it would be much more satisfactory if the Lower Harbour body raised its contribution to the level of that paid by the West.Harbour Council. This amount included £ll7 for metal and railage and £44 8s 4d for the use of the grader.—The letter was received. It was expected that the work on the Main road leading to Port Chalmers would be completed this month.—The report was approved.
