The abolition of the narking area in Moray place outside First Church was discussed at length, and the following motion was carried:—“That this executive strongly objects to the abolition of the parking area, and that a' deputation wait upon the General Committee of the City Council, in conjunction with other organisations, asking that the area be reinstated.” The arranging of the deputation was left in the hands of the president and secretary. FIRE BRIGADE TELEPHONE. ■ 1° reply to a suggestion that small metal plates, giving the Fire Brigade’s number, should be placed in public telephone boxes, the secretary of the Dun edin Fire Board wrote stating that the superintendent had reported that if the suggestion were carried out malicious false, alarms would probably be increased. It was a rare occurence to receive a genuine fire call from a slot machine, while a number of malicious alarms were transmitted by such means. Of the 33 malicious alarms received during the last brigade year, 16 had been transmitted through the telephone. The board had decided that it was- inadvisable to give prominence to the brigade telephone number in the manner‘suggested. The letter was received. GENERAL! - The secretary was instructed to write to the town clerk asking when Brown street would be completed and thrown open to traffic. The town clerk wrote, acknowledging receipt of a petition from Dalmore residents asking that the license held by the owner of a pig farm should be revoked. The report of the health officer showed that no objection could be taken to the farm from a health point of view, and the corporation’s inspectors would keep the property under close observation. The council would not be justified in acting on the lines suggested.—The letter was received. It was decided to write to the town clerk asking for information regarding the _ observations made by the engineers during their visits 'to Deep Stream in the present dry weather. A suggestion that the association should ask the chairman of the various committees of the City Council to give short_ addresses to members at quarterly meetings was adopted..
