CHEMISTS’ DEFENCE ASSOCIATION.

SUPPORT FOR THE CAMPAIGN. At the recent conference attended by chemists representing all parts of the Dominion the following resolution was carried:—“That chemists give special attention to goods produced in New’Zealand, in support oi the local industries campaign; and that from time to time special displays of locally-produced’ goods be made. Also, that it be a recommendation to manufacturers’ associations that New Zealand Day or New Zealand 'Week be established on similar lines to Australia Day.” In the discussion several speakers referred to the success that had followed their efforts to push 'several chemists’ linefe of New Zealand manufacture, and it was agreed that chemists throughout the Dominion should increase their attention to the lines, losing no opportunity of advancing New Zealand produced goods, which are found to sell just as readily os the imported article. Arising from this came the New Zealand Day proposal, but members felt that this was n matter that should ex tend-to all traders and was therefore beyond their powers. The Manufacturers’ Federation may rely on full support from chemists so far as their linos are concerned.
