PARNELL BY-ELECTION.
THE FINAL MEETINGS. POLLING TAKES PLACE TO-DAY. (Special to Dailx Times.) AUCKLAND, May C. The Parnell electorate will bo the sceue of great activity to-morrow when the by-election to fill the vacancy in the House of Representatives, caused by the resignation of the United Party mem(Mr'H. R, Jenkins) will be held. Final meetings in support of the candidature of Mr W’. P. Endean (Reform), Mr W. A. Donald (United), and Mr T. Eloodworth (Labour) were held to-night Taken all through, the, campaign has been waged in the best of spirit, and with an almost entire lack of personalities. There are 14,019 names on the roll, and it is expected that the polling will he fairly heavy. There was. groat enthusiasm at Mr Donald’s last meeting in Remuora, the candidate being supported by three Ministers—Messrs E. A. Ransom, 'A. J Sthllworthy, and J. B. Donald. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr J. G. Coates) was at Mr Endean’a meeting, which was really a rally of the Reform Party. Mr H» R. Jenkins and five Reform members of Parliament were among the speakers. “The campaign throughout has been one of the happiest and most- interesting in which I have engaged,” was how Mr Eloodworth described the contest at his last meeting, at 1 which the Labour Leader (Mr H. E. Holland) was one of the speakers.
