BRISBANE UNEMPLOYED
CLASHES WITH THE POLICE. A NUMBER OF ARRESTS. (United Press Association.) (By Electric ’ Telegraph—Copyright.) ’ 4 . BRISBANE, May 5. (Received May 5, at 11 p.m.) . A pitched battle in the streets-of Brisbane to-day'ended in the .arrest of several, unemployed men. Daring clashes the police made many baton, charges, while boots and fists were used'by the rioters. A Labour Day procession was beihgheld and the unemployed formed themselves into a separate camp and became disorderly. They carried, offensive banners and shouted, “Kill the bosses’ army.” Their ’ leaders , also delivered ' fiery addresses in the vicinity of the Trades Hall. The police tried to disperse them and a melee ensued. Reinforcements of police arrived and arrested a.number, amid hooting and jeering. Nobody was seriously "hart. ■ '
