WATERSIDE WORKERS’ CLAIM.
JUDGMENT FOR £2lB. (Feb United Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, May 3. Thomas Moylan (commonly known as Paddy Miles) was to-day awarded £2lB damages by Mr Justice Smith against the Waterside Workers’ Union and its walking delegate (Robert Irvine) for conspiracy to prevent him from earning a livelihood on the waterfront. la. awarding damages Mr Justice Smith found that Irvine had determined by April 19, 1929, that Moylan would get no more work on the Auckland waterfront; that Irvine stopped the men on the steamer Port Napier from working with Moylan, and that Irvine was instrumental in procuring Moylan’s discharge from the Tofua, The judge also found that the union knew and approved of or was responsible for Irvine’s attitude and actions.
