(Per United Press Association.) ' AUCKLAND, May B. Two yachtsmen discovered on Saturday that their first-class keeler had been struck by lightning in the electrical storm of last Tuesday. The current had splintered the deck, pierced the hull In three places, and fused the stays. David Guthrie Caldwell, aged 39, was fined £IOO for using a private house as a common gaming house. Detectives found two telephones and a radio set in the house, and while waiting for the owner they took 47 bets totalling £sl. HAMILTON, May 6. A service car driver, Edward Fit*william, was fined ,£lO and had his license cancelled for six, months for being drunk while in charge of n car. Two constables found him in London street at 1 o’clock this morning asleep at the wheel with a young woman asleep biside him. NEW , PLYMOUTH, May 5. The police raided a house in Fitzroy suburb last night, and removed a large quantity of liquor. The haul included three 36-gallon barrels, • four -of 18 gallons, two of two gallons, and two empty barrels. It is understood thai the resident will be called on to explain his unusual thirst. .. WELLINGTON, May 5. The criminal secsions of the Supreme Court were opened to-day before Mr Justice Blair. True bills were returned against Reginald Carr Bex, indecent assault and indecent exposure; Patrick James Michael Heffron, breaking and catering and theft; George Frederick Murphy, breaking and entering; William John Byrne, indecent assault; Norman Eric Walker, theft and receiving; Ada Prances Walker, receiving; James Burman and Walter Sheriffs Henneies, Pra&er, robbery with violence.
