“IS LIFE WORTH LIVING AFTER THIRTY?”
DEBATE BY WOMEN STUDENTS. AFFIRMATIVE VOTE. , (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, March 1. (Received March 2, at 11.20 p.m.) The university women students serioutly debated whether life worth living after 30 years. Fortunately for the veterans of 31, who do not possess the modern girl undergraduate outlook, the motion proposed by the vivaciohs Miss Smith, who is still in her teens, was defeated by 15 votes to 4.
Miss Smith insisted that the meaning of life was lost by the majority after 30. She asked her hearers to compare the eager anticipation of a young man’s first visit to a parish with that of a man of 40, who thought more about the discomforts of the journey than the gaiety of life.. The spirit of adventure alone made life worth while. A man was full of dull realism after 30.
Miss Smart put the other view. She assured her hearers that a man of 30 had not .seen everything. If the spirit of adventure were dead at 30 such a person never possesses it.
The chairman declared that life was worth while up to 60 after 80 examinations of the uninterrupted joys of youth.
