AUSTRALIAN COAL DISPUTE
A DISASTROUS FIRE. INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, March 2. (Received March 2, at 5.5 p.m.) The 'railway sheds at East Greta, on the Maitland coalfields, have been burned together with 30 railway carriages and a large quantity of plant and workmen’s tools. The total damage is in the neighbourhood of £130,000. The police suspect incendiarism, as the sheds are the property of the South Majtland- Railways, Ltd. The line is exclusively used ‘ for carrying coal and p&ssengers, and is directly involved in the existing coal dispute. Inquiries into the origin of the fire are now being made.
POLICE RAID AT KUERI KUKRI. COMMUNIST COPYING PLANT. SYDNEY, March 2. (Received March 2, at 5.5 p.m.) A raid by the police on the School of Arts, on the Karri Karri coalfields, resulted in the discovery behind the stage of a complete copying plant, the property of the Communist Party, which it is understood is being, used for the publication of militant news sheets, copies of .which are falling into the hands of the police and causing them the utmost concern, and are responsible for the prolongation of the ktrike. ‘ The owners of the plant have not been traced.
